AD: Shocked! The peak value of plasma Aβ42/Aβ40 began to decline 41 years before the deposition of brain Aβ! Alzheimer's diseases: New discovery on plasma Aβ42/Aβ40.  AD: Shocked! The peak value of plasma Aβ42/Aβ40 began to decline 41 years before the deposition of brain Aβ! Amyloid β (Aβ) plaque deposition and phosphorylated tau (p-tau) protein tangles are two important pathological features of Alzheimer's disease (AD), and there are many kinds of AD biomarkers derived around them, Knowledge of the longitudinal trajectories of key markers could not only help improve the selection and monitoring of participants in clinical trials, but also help identify those at high risk for neurodegenerative changes and cognitive impairment.   Although research on AD biomarkers has increased substantially in recent years, research on longitudinal changes in biomarkers is relatively limited. Studies have shown that the levels of plasma Aβ 42 /Aβ 40 , p-tau181 and glial fibrillary acidic...

After 70 years of age, language ability declines significantly, and more play and activity can delay it!

After 70 years of age, language ability declines significantly, and more play and activity can delay it!

70~74 years old is a turning point in the decline of language ability

Playing more and more active can delay the decline of speech function

Liu Chuqun, Professor of Jiangxi Normal University

Decreased language fluency is an important speech performance of the elderly. Studies have found that the age of 70 to 74 is an important turning point for the decline of verbal fluency, but a positive attitude and a healthy lifestyle can delay the decline of the elderly’s verbal fluency to a certain extent.

After 70 years of age, language ability declines significantly

Most of the elderly, especially the elderly, have these kinds of expressions: words that have no real meaning are repeated back and forth, lack of information to express, the words are inconsistent with what they think and form a verbal error, and the words cannot be remembered by the mouth (tip of tongue phenomenon), etc. In many cases, the elderly cannot realize and control these problems.

We used retired professors and associate professors aged 65 to 90 at Jiangxi Normal University as the research subjects to observe. These old comrades are in good health and have no obvious speech communication obstacles. At the same time, we also use the young and middle-aged teachers aged 35-45 as the reference group.

Finally, we found three laws: (1) As the age increases, the frequency of oral unfluency is getting higher and higher, and the ability to express oral fluency is slowly decreasing. ②The fluent expression ability of 65-69-year-olds did not decrease significantly. ③Compared with the 65-69-year-olds, the 70-74-year-olds are not fluent in speaking frequently.

This may be an important turning point in the decline of the elderly's language fluency. Foreign scholar Kan Boer and others have also found that after the age of 70, the elderly have obvious aging and decline in the complexity of grammar and the content of propositions.

It’s easier to "conquer the old" after 70

The decline in the expression ability of the old population is not only the result of the aging of physiological functions, but also is closely related to the mental state and lifestyle of the elderly. Our investigation found that many people did not accept their old age before the age of 70, and even continued their pre-retirement work. But after reaching the age of 70, most people obviously feel the decline in physical function, which leads to some changes in their mentality, the passion for life slowly fades, and they begin to become "satisfied with the old."

Peace of mind, many hobbies, slow decline in language ability

According to the characteristics of life and mental state, we divide the elderly into four types: active type and quiet type, calm type and restless type. Active old people have hobbies, such as dancing, boxing, traveling, etc.; quiet old people generally have no obvious outdoor hobbies, and most of the time they watch TV. Peaceful old people are more satisfied with life, and are less excited and indignant about people and things; anxious old people have strong dissatisfaction and rejection with society and others, and complain more about life. The survey shows that compared with the quiet and restless old people, the active and peaceful old people are less fluent in speaking.

This shows that life attitudes and habits will have a certain impact on the language ability of the elderly. Physical aging is an irresistible natural law, but the mental state can be regulated. I hope that elderly friends can face the aging and elderly life with a positive and healthy attitude, and live a wonderful sunset evening scene.

bioRxiv: Scientists have identified a new potential target for the treatment of lung cancer

bioRxiv: Scientists have identified a new potential target for the treatment of lung cancer In cancer research, personalized medicine therapy often uses special genetic changes in a single tumor to find its weakness and attack it. Many tumors carry high levels of mutations, perhaps because of a special antiviral defense Mechanism-APOBEC system, which can accidentally damage DNA and induce mutations. The analysis of cancer mutation characteristics often provides researchers with a large amount of information on the source of mutations, and can guide the use of clinical therapies, including immunotherapy, etc.; in particular, APOBEC3A (A3A, apolipoprotein B mRNA editing enzyme catalyzed polypeptide-like protein 3A, apolipoprotein B mRNA-editing enzyme catalytic polypeptide-like 3A) has now become the main driver of mutations in cancer cells. Its expression can cause DNA damage and become sensitive to ATR and CHK1 checkpoint kinase inhibitor therapy. Image source: https://www.biorxiv.org/...

Bispecific CD19/CD20 CAR-T cell therapy: treatment of relapsed or refractory B-cell lymphoma with a complete remission rate of 80%!

Bispecific CD19/CD20 CAR-T cell therapy: treatment of relapsed or refractory B-cell lymphoma with a complete remission rate of 80%! -According to the data of a phase I clinical trial (NCT04007029) announced in the first week of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) 2021 annual meeting, bispecific anti-CD19/CD20 CAR-T cell therapy treats relapsed/refractory B Patients with cell lymphoma are well tolerated and show clinical efficacy. Researcher Sanaz Ghafouri, MD, a researcher in hematology and oncology at the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center, said: “Patients with relapsed/refractory B-cell lymphoma often have more malignant disease trajectories and limited treatment options. Anti-CD19 CAR- T cell therapy has completely changed the treatment of this disease in recent years, but there are still some limitations. Due to the lack of persistence of CAR-T cells and/or the down-regulation of the target antigen CD19 on the tumor, about half of the patients are ...
